SEC/GPC Molecular-Weight Reference Standards
Primogene's dextran as SEC/GPC molecular-weight calibration standard
Narrow, well-defined dextran fractions can be used as molecular-weight reference standards for aqueous SEC/GPC analysis. They help anchor the low-molecular-weight range of dextran calibration series and support reliable determination of molecular-weight distribution and polydispersity in dextran and polysaccharide samples.
For this application, a narrow molecular-weight distribution and controlled polydispersity are essential. Low PDI improves the trustworthiness of the standard by providing a clear and reproducible reference point. Primogene’s defined dextrans are suitable for building low-MW calibration series, with Dextran 5 serving as an especially useful reference around the ~5 kDa range.
Dextran 1 is particularly suitable for anchoring the very low-molecular-weight end of an aqueous SEC/GPC dextran calibration series. Its narrow PDI and well-defined molecular-weight profile make it a reliable reference point for low-MW calibration, where broad or poorly defined standards can reduce analytical accuracy.
